Official guided tour

Dress warmly as you head to downtown Eugene on Nov. 1 for the official guided tour on the monthly First Friday ArtWalk, which will be led by Toni Pimble, artistic director of the Eugene Ballet Company. Pimble will meet fellow tour goers at 5:30 p.m. at Sparrow Studios (136 E. Broadway), where there’s a show of decorated calaveras (skulls) by more than 40 West Coast artists, commemorating Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The calaveras will be auctioned off with profits from the going to CASA of Lane County.

At the tour’s second stop, Passionflower Design (128 E. Broadway) at 6:00 p.m., the in-house team has created wreaths, and the staff will give a brief demonstration on wreath building. If you’d like to learn how to make your own, sign up for the workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The $45 fee includes materials and instruction.

The tour moves on to InEugene Real Estate (100 E. Broadway) at 6:30 p.m., where Matt Dey of Blunt Graffix is showing his contemporary pop art and prints. His work has been seen around the world in galleries and art festivals, and includes curated group art shows with a network of galleries in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Down But Not Out by Jenny Gray is one of the 12-inch by 12-inch pieces on exhibit at Oregon Art Supply, exploring the concept of “red”

Oregon Art Supply (1020 Pearl St.) is the last stop on the tour at 7:00 p.m., where each November/December since 2015 the store has continued the tradition of the Small Works Show that was held originally at the Jacobs Gallery in the Hult Center, started by the late artist Beverly Soasey. This year’s exhibit presents RED Square, interpretations by six artists — Zoe Cohen, Jenny Gray, Ann Hamilton, Rebecca Mannheimer, Beth Robinson, and Sarah Sedwick — in 12×12-inch works that interpret their visions of “red.” The show will be on display through the end of the year.
