Oregon Abstract is the title of a new art show on display now at The Gallery at the Airport — meaning the terminal at Eugene’s Mahlon Sweet Field — and it includes 30 pieces of abstract art created by members of the Maude Kerns Art Center, including one by its namesake, Maude Kerns herself.

For those who aren’t coming or going through the airport between now and April 20, though, there’s still an opportunity to see this show, online at the art center’s website, mkartcenter.org.

Curator for the exhibit is Eugene artist Jenny Gray, who selected a variety of abstracts ranging from woodcut prints to paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media as well as encaustic (hot wax painting), ceramics, and photographs.

Gray made her selections based on her sense of how the all pieces taken together fit the “Oregon Abstract” theme as well as the aesthetic interest and level of artistry of each of the artworks, which by the definition of “abstract” need not relate to reality in any specific way but rather by suggestion.

The Gallery At the Airport is located in the main lobby of the terminal.
