There probably are few people who can’t hum or sing at least a few songs from their favorite movies, but now there’s a chance to hear many of those unforgettable numbers in person when the Eugene Concert Choir performs them in a matinee concert on Feb. 27 at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts.
The choir will be joined by guest vocalists Siri Vik and Bill Hulings, and accompanied by an instrumental combo led by Vicki Brabham.
The songs include musical gems from West Side Story, An Officer and a Gentleman, Footloose, Mamma Mia, and The Muppet Movie, plus many other unforgettable numbers from films such as Singin’ in the Rain, Titanic, Fiddler on the Roof, Carousel, and The Lion King.
It’s not titled The Magic of Movie Music for nothing, and artistic director and conductor Diane Retallack said she offers this concert “to specifically lift people’s spirits.”
