“Best Buddies Working for Springfield,” a watercolor by artist Linda C. Kaye, is Springfield mayor Christine Lundberg’s pick for the mayor’s award at the 24th annual Mayor’s Art Show.
The painting shows three city of Springfield police officers with their canine partners.
The exhibit will be on display at the Emerald Art Center at 500 Main St. through Oct. 28.
Center director Paula Goodbar said the exhibit attracted 187 entries this year. As center director, she too had the chance to select a favorite piece. She bestowed the director’s award on Wanda Sigafus for her intricately detailed black-and-white drawing of a weary traveler, enigmatically portrayed in a dark dress, cloche hat and bare feet.
Two judges, Gregory Pfarr and Bill Thompson, also selected several pieces of art to receive ribbons in the show.
Hours at the Emerald Art Center are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For information, call 541-726-8595 or go online to emeraldartcenter.org.
