The Emerald Art Center hosts a group show of work by members of the PhotoZone Gallery in February and also exhibits of work by three featured members of the center. As always, new work by other members of the art co-op also will be on display.
PhotoZone Gallery show
The PhotoZone Gallery is made up of people who pursue the craft of fine art photography, ranging from landscape and nature photography to documentary, portraiture, abstract expression and pinhole. The group formed in 1988 and has been a feature several galleries in the Eugene-Springfield area, most recently at the New Zone Gallery in downtown Eugene.
This display features many types of photographic prints, including silver, digital, infrared, and platinum/palladium. It includes prints from the PhotoZone Gallery’s January show, augmented by additional works of photographic art.
Emerald Art Center featured member artists
Rayne Pelham is showing beadwork with painted acrylic backgrounds under the title, Native in Oregon, reflecting her heritage and her upbringing in the Pacific Northwest. She is also a retired educator. The centerpieces of this exhibit are works created by hand by stitching 1 mm. beads to canvas that has been painted with acrylic backgrounds. Her website is grandmotherspiderdesign.com
Alison Hennes uses ink drawings, ink and watercolor pens, and watercolor to create animal and nature scenes, some realistic and others whimsical, with the purpose of sharing the joy of her art and recapturing the imagination inherent in a less adult, more childlike appreciation of artwork.
Edward Teague created Frozen Roses as a way to capture the beauty of rose blooms even at the end of their lives as fall brings frost and transforms their beauty in a different form. Using acrylic, in the past year he chose 13 photographs to act as the basis for painted portraits of each flower, capturing their natural beauty but at the same time acknowledging and celebrating their impermanence.
