The Emerald Art Center in downtown Springfield will host a special show of photography in November, featuring work by members of the Spectrum Art Gallery in Fresno, Calif. The exhibit is part of an exchange show with the local photography organization, the PhotoZone Gallery, whose members are showing their work in Fresno.
Photography at Oregon, a “sister organization” of the PhotoZone Gallery, is helping to get the word out more broadly throughout the community, including sharing the details such as an opening reception of the show from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.during the Downtown Springfield Second Friday ArtWalk on Nov. 14.
“We’re helping PhotoZone Gallery out with a little extra publicity,” Photography at Oregon member Doremus Scudder said. “Apologies for any duplicate mailings — we do overlap a bit.”
Scudder describes the show as “superb,” consisting of a variety of photographs from the American Southwest.
More information about the Spectrum Art Gallery is online at spectrumphotogallery.
At the same time, the Emerald Art Center has on display through Nov. 26 several other exhibits by its own members:
- Love and Other Acts of Subversion, a 22-piece installation created as an accompaniment to a new album by local musician Forest Mountain Lion; information at forestmountainlion.com;
- A Painting Retrospective, featuring the work of longtime artist and Emerald Art Center Dottie Chase; and
- Recent acrylic abstract paintings by Marian Angele, also an EAC member.
