What’s What

Here’s how the first Marvelous Maude’s Annual Studio Tour on Saturday, April 13, will work, offering the community a chance to visit four studios of actual area artists who will be showing their own work as well as that of several other of their fellow artists.

The brand new event is a fundraiser for the Maude Kerns Art Center, running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at a cost of $40.

The tour will be divided into four routes so that everyone isn’t stopping at the same place at the same time. So when you stop at the Maude Kerns Art Center at 1910 E. 15th Ave. to pick up a brochure, you will get a route starting at either Studio 1, 2, 3, or 4. You also will get a raffle ticket, which will be stamped when you get to each stop on your tour, and which will be turned back in to the art center at the end of the tour and entered into a drawing for art donated by the artists whose work you have just seen on the tour.

Who’s Who

From that point, “studio tourists” will venture forth on their designated route, and here’s a list of artists whose work will be presented at each of the four locations:

Studio One: Hosted by felt artist Tylar Merrill of Thimbelberry Felt Designs; with ceramic art by Annie Heron; and gold and silver metalsmithing by Holly Phillips Whaley.

Studio Two: Hosted by mixed-media artist Rogene Mañas; with ceramics by Shelly Fredenberg; hand-crafted creations by Patrice Peterson; and sculpture by Michael Whitenack.

Studio Three: Hosted by furniture and repurposed-items artist Tim Boyden; with cartography by Dave Imus; and paintings by Demetra Kalams;

Studio Four: Hosted by collage, assemblage, drawing and painting artist Ann Bumb Hamilton; with jewelry maker Kathy Frazer; painter Rebecca Mannheimer; and jewelry and textile designer Bea Roberts.
