Details: The Shedd Institute concludes its 2023 Theatrical season with Sheldon Harnick, Jerry Bock, Joseph Stein & Jerome Robbin’s heartwarming and inspiring 1964 classic tale of family, tradition, love and perseverance, Fiddler On The Roof. Set in a village in Imperial Russia’s Pale of Settlement circa 1905, the story centers on Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman and his wife Golde who struggle to preserve their family and the traditions and values of their faith in the social turmoil of late Imperial Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof‘s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion.

Written by Joseph Stein and featuring an unforgettable score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, Fiddler On The Roof is filled with deep emotion, touching humor, and beautiful, inspiring and heartwarming songs impossible to forget: “Tradition,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were A Rich Man,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “Do You Love Me?,” “To Life,” and “Far From The Home I Love.”

Our production is directed by Heidi Turnquist with music direction and conducting by Robert Ashens, and choreography by Carey Hilbert, with costumes by Anna Björnsdotter and set by Jim Ralph & Connie Huston. The show stars Bill Hulings as Tevye, Shirley Andress as Golde, Clarae Smith, Hanna Foshay, Kenady Conforth, Bailey Ubel and Eliyah Chandler as their 5 daughters, Siri Vik as Fruma-Sara, and a fabulous ensemble of Shedd veterans!
