Once again this year, the Eugene Symphony will put on a New Year’s Eve celebration concert jam-packed with instrumental and vocal music, followed by an after-concert party with a dance floor, bar service, and the countdown to midnight, to usher out 2023 and welcome 2024.
Concert
The evening begins with a concert by the Eugene Symphony, featuring Eugene resident and internationally active vocalist Halie Loren, singing a bevy of jazz standards such as Blue Skies, Sway, and La Vie en Rose, followed by a performance by the symphony orchestra of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, in honor of the 100th anniversary in 2024 of its composition, with renowned pianist Alexandre Dossin, a professor at the University of Oregon’s School of Music and Dance, at the keyboard.
Party
The Welcome 2024 Party comes next, with the Hult Center Lobby becoming a cocktail lounge and a dance floor presided over by DJ Olive Delsol. The festivities culminate with the countdown to midnight, featuring a balloon drop, confetti cannons, and a toast to the New Year.
