When: 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24th and Wednesday, September 25th
Where: Hult Center for the Performing Arts, One Eugene Center (Seventh and Willamette)
Details from the Eugene Symphony: The Eugene Symphony is pleased to announce auditions for Chorus Section Leaders, a paid core of 16 singers, and new members of the Eugene Symphony Chorus. Auditions on both days will be in The Studio, located on the lower level of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts. This process reflects a change in structure from previous years, as this audition is for Chorus Section Leaders (four in each voice type: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass for a total of 16) who will be paid a stipend of $250 for all rehearsals and performance, and for new chorus members only. All existing chorus members not auditioning for Chorus Section Leaders are invited to return to the ensemble as volunteer members and do not need to audition. Individuals selected for a position in the chorus will have the opportunity to perform on the Symphony’s November 14, 2019 program, Robert Levin’s completion of Mozart’s Requiem, conducted by Francesco Lecce-Chong and featuring the chorus. The evening also includes Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos in G Minor and Jessie Montgomery’s Records from a Vanishing City.
Chorus auditions specifications: Auditions are by appointment only and will begin at 7 p.m. on both September 24 and September 25. Participants are expected to prepare a short song or aria; those auditioning may also be asked to vocalize and/or sight read. Participants should bring the piano accompaniment score to their chosen short song or aria; an accompanist will be provided.
Please send résumés highlighting performance experience to Andrew Mell, Eugene Symphony Artistic Operations Assistant (andrew.mell@eugenesymphony.org) by no later than 5 p.m. on September 20, 2019.
