Join the party during downtown Springfield’s Second Friday Art Walk from 5:30 pm. to 8 p.m. on March 9, with its theme, “March of the Mad Hatters.”

The Emerald Art Center features work by Hillsboro artist Ed Labadie, including “Rose Matrix”

Miriam Alexis Jordan is the guest guide for the tour. Jordan has been a part of the community art scene as an advocate administrator at Diva, Jacobs Gallery, the University of Oregon, and now at Emerald Art Center, where the fun begins at 5:30 p.m. at 500 Main St. Wear your own version of a wacky hat and join the march down Main Street to several artful venues.

  1. Emerald Art Center (500 Main St) – Visiting Artist Ed Labadie has a show of watercolors, oils and acrylics titled “Celebrating the Grandeur of Nature.” Labadie also will give a painting demo. Also on display is a show, “Reflections of Beauty,” by featured member Cork Larsen. The Laurel Chamber Players will entertain.
  2. City Hall Gallery (225 A. St.) – Paintings by Cork Larsen and music by Laurel Chamber Players. Light refreshments.
  3. Hearts for Hospice (444 Main St) – Hearts for Hospice has photography by Anna Walker. Patty Sage and The Refreshments will perform ’60s and other musical treats, along with edible treats and drinks, including cookies by Paco.
  4. 331 Mosaic (331 Main St.) – Featured artist is Hannah Themann of Springfield. Her work is wheel-thrown and hand-built clay pieces, macramé plant hangars, and handmade leather-bound books.
  5. Memento Ink (525 Main St.) – Featured artist Kari Jensen displays “Narrative, Magic Realism, Imaginative Realism, Illustrative, Mementist” in paper, canvas and clay.
  6. A3 Arts Academy and Academics (615 Main St.) – Show is a variety of media by A3 Students.
  7. Tronson Gallery of Contemporary Art (740 Main St.) – New paintings by Jean Denis. Complimentary refreshments.
