Throughout July, the Emerald Art Center will exhibit the results of the PhotoZone’s 36th annual juried fine-art photography show, featuring entries from Oregon photographers, as judged by a panel of PhotoZone members.

Work by Emerald Art Center members Chad Wintringham and Janet Becker also are featured during July.

Wintringham’s show is titled Finding His Way and describes the arc of his career as an artist in his fifties this way:

“Chad spent the better part of his years dabbling with pencil, but life with all its twists and turns often got in the way.  Though he enjoys the deliberate strokes of a pencil on paper, he never felt fully satisfied with grays — he wanted color and vibrancy.  Several years ago he began exploring oils and a variety of subjects and genres.  As he endeavored to find his way with art, he hopes to reveal that from the depths of the oceans to the grasslands of America or to the African Savannah there is still beauty and good in God’s creation.”

Acceptance, by Janet Becker

Janet Becker’s display is titled A Mosaic Collage and is an homage to her great-grandfather, Frederick Krieg, was a designer in New York City more than a century ago. Much of his work is archived at Columbia University. Becker’s show includes the various styles and mediums of her work throughout her career.

And as usual, new work created by members of the Emerald Art Center also are on display.
