The Very Little Theatre will put Stage Kiss by Sarah Ruhl onstage from June 13-29, 2025, and auditions for roles will take place on Feb. 22 and Feb. 23, starting at 1 p.m. both days, at the theater at 2350 Hilyard St. in Eugene.

Pre-registration is not required for either audition session, but it is encouraged and may be done online by noon on Feb. 21.

Those who do not pre-register are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled audition time in order to complete on-site registration.

No previous acting or theater experience is required. The auditions will consist of warm-ups and readings from the script. No memorized monologue is required. More audition information can be found online at thevlt.com/auditions/.

Those who wish to volunteer to be part of the Stage Kiss production will need to attend one rehearsal in late February or early March, with rehearsals starting in earnest in mid-April, scheduled on weekday evenings or weekends, depending on cast availability.

Available roles for Stage Kiss include three women: one ages teens/20s, one ages 20s-40s, and one ages 30s-50s. There also are roles for three men, ages 30s-50s and one for any gender ages 30s-50s. Actors of all genders and ethnicitites are encouraged to audition.

Stage Kiss has been described as comedy, farce, and romance all rolled into one. It centers around two actors who win parts in a play only to discover that they are acting roles that they have played in real life, having had a failed romantic relationship decades before. As they begin rehearsing the play, life starts to imitate art as the lines between past and present begin to blur.

The Very Little Theatre’s production of Stage Kiss will be directed by Maggie Hadley. To ask questions or request a pdf of the script, email the director at Maggie.tryk@gmail.com.
