The Second Friday Art Walk in downtown Springfield on Oct. 12 begins at the Willamalane Adult Activity Center at 215 West C St. at 5 p.m.

Niel Laudati, community relations manager in the city manager’s office, will lead the official guided tour, which runs until 8 p.m., with several stops along the way.

As usual, art walk participants are welcome to join the tour or design their own, using tour maps available at many of the merchants and galleries that remain open downtown for the evening. A complimentary shuttle will run continuously from the Adult Activity Center to the downtown venues until 7 p.m.

Work by illustrator and art educator Elizabeth Blue — also known as the Fairy Tale Artist — will be on display at the Adult Activity Center, showing her interpretations of the stories and images in watercolor and ink. There will be a reception for the artist from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibit will run through Nov. 30 during regular center hours.

The other stops on the official tour are:

  • Emerald Art Center (500 Main St.) — Featuring the 26th

    annual Springfield Mayor’s Art Show, show runs through Nov. 2.

  • City Hall Gallery (225 A St.) — Show of work by apron artist Marissa Solini, with artist’s reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; refreshments and music by Donald Inglese. Show runs through Oct. 31.
  • Haven (349 Main St.) — Jewelry by local artist Christy Curtis, including aluminum wristbands with inspirational words; wine and appetizers.
  • Memento Ink (525 Main St.) — Illustrations by artist Lynette Slape; refreshments.

As usual, many other places also will be open to participate informally in the monthly art walk:

  • Dark and Stormy Food and Garden Lounge (420 Main St., Suite 6) — Artwork in a variety of mediums by artists Emily Blankenship, Sarah Kinser, Bill Deskin, Ellen Gabehart, Lena MacDonald, and Demetra Kalams.
  • 100 Mile Bakery (418 A St.) — “The Art & Sound of Eden’s Lynx,” digital photo manipulation by Dené Benton, who also will give a demonstration on the Public House main hall balcony at 7 p.m.
  • A3 Academy of Arts and Academics (615 Main St.) —

  • The Artisan’s Quarter (240 Main St.) — Silver clay jewelry by Donna Yutzy; music by Megan Johns; and artwork by Alejandro Sarmiento; plus jewelry by other local crafters.

  • Bartolotti’s NY-style Pizza and Italian Bistro (330 Main St.) — Featured artist Patti McNutt.
