The weather may be getting dark and wintry, but the Emerald Art Center offers a respite in its latest show, Adventures in Painting, created by the Plein Air Painters of Lane County, who put their personal comfort on the line by painting outdoors and then bringing the artwork inside to show.
These year-round artists have covered lots of territory in past months, some traveling to Central Oregon, elsewhere around the Pacific Northwest, and even to France for a workshop taught by Margaret Plumb.
In addition to the plein air painting exhibit, there’s another, called Reprocessing, that features work by art center member Keith Bennett. That show is explores the way Bennett “revisits, reinterprets, and re-transforms images, experiences, materials, and emotions into new forms of expression.”
And there’s more, in the form of artwork created during the fall term by students in Springfield High School’s studio art and graphic design program, which includes drawing and painting; painting and sculpture; Advanced Placement studio art; graphic design; and ceramics, including neurographic art, still life, and papier maché.
