Oregon Mozart Players’ final concert of the 2024-2015 season has special meaning, because the orchestra, established in 1982, recently selected its next music director, following a season-long search that brought several talented candidates to the stage and resulted in the selection of David Amado.

David Amado will make his debut on May 17, 2025, as music director of Oregon Mozart Players
That explains the title of the final concert — Da Capo: A Triumphant First Step — Da Capo is Italian for “from the beginning” — recognizing the end of one era and the beginning of another as Amado officially takes to the podium for the first time.
In addition to Amado’s first appearance, the evening will feature two young solo performers. Yuwei Zhang won first place in the 2025 Young Soloist Competition, and Andrew Lee won the Senior Division.
Zhang will play Pablo De Sarasate’s Introduction and Tarantella, and Lee will play the first movement of Jan Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D Minor.
The evening showcases OMP’s dedication to artistic excellence and community connection,
featuring two outstanding young performers: Yuwei Zhang, Junior Division 1st Place Winner of the 2025 Young Soloist Competition, will perform Sarasate’s virtuosic Introduction and Tarantella, and Andrew Lee, Senior Division 1st Place Winner, will perform the gripping first movement of Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D Minor.
The program also includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, which will include young musicians of the Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras. And it will end with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s famous Symphony No. 41, Jupiter.
