Longtime Eugene singer-songwriter Lea (which he describes as “rhymes with flea”) Jones will stream a live YouTube concert starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, with a very personal and specific purpose in mind: to help a friend who is undergoing chemotherapy and related treatment for a sudden cancer diagnosis.
Jones has his own personal experience going down that particular road — he has been treated for cancer periodically himself during the past several years.
As part of a local duo that performs under the name Buffalo Romeo (often at the 16 Tons Cafe in the shopping center at 29th and Willamette streets in south Eugene), Jones says he he has planned “an hour of live tunes” that will be accessible at https://www.youtube.com/live/bCjweuZAkmM?si=gnPKvQYT0o4qW2EV
“I’ve tried to do this several times (with Buffalo Romeo shows), but few attempts have worked out very well — Weak WiFi, rain during an outdoors gig, some neighbor kids who told ME to ‘turn it down’ during a front yard show (ironic emoji here) — But THIS TIME FOR SURE!” Jones said in announcing the show. “I hope you have decent sound on whatever system you employ to tune in.”
Here’s how Cassidy Spring Braverman’s family announced the intention to appeal to the public to help their “partner, mom, daughter, and friend”:
“Life moves fast and sometimes you blink and things have changed so dramatically it’s hard to catch your breath. What started off as a very minor shortness of breath (several weeks ago) was revealed to be stage 4 Adenocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer for our beloved, adored Partner, Mom, Daughter and Friend, Cassidy Spring Braverman. It’s always hard to wrap your head around news like this and we are devastated by the news.
“Cassidy is a courageous fighter and has so much to live for and has only just begun to fight with her first round of chemo.
“It is always humbling and difficult to ask your community for help at these difficult times but employment during rigorous chemo and treatment will not be possible.
“Cassidy needs our help and any type of monetary and emotional help is greatly appreciated at this time to keep her focused on the fight of her life. Thank you for all that you can do!
