February 14, of course, is Valentine’s Day, but for those who feel like celebrating a little more the next day, the Eugene Concert Choir and Eugene Vocal Arts will perform a special concert titled Love is in the Aire at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15 in the Silva Concert Hall at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Eugene.

The program includes classic love-related choral works by well-known American composers including Samuel Barber, Emma Lou Diemer, Morten Lauridsen, and Randall Stroope, as well as classic love songs such as I Only Have Eyes for You and Love Will Keep Us Together.

And in the vein of “and that’s not all, folks,” the program also features choral works by Puerto Rican composers and arrangers — including a new, commissioned work by Guarionex Morales Matos, plus a performance by a jazz combo led by pianist Nick Rieser, and rumba and swing by dancers from the Vault Dance Studio.

(And after this opening performance in Eugene, the entire Love is in the Aire program will be traveling on tour to Puerto Rico in March.)
