Details: An art exhibit in support of the Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Sue shares her own domestic violence journey via her art. She aspires to convey through her “artwork/heartwork” the raw emotions of pain, sorrow, anger and grief during pain-filled years– and she tries to display resilience, hope and new beginnings. Elizabeth’s “Finding Wings” sculptures are focused on telling the stories of Domestic Violence survivors. The form of the swan is chosen for this series because the swan represents the grace and transformation she seek’s to highlight in the survivors’ journey.
Sue & Elizabeth believe that when survivor stories are shared publicly through art, other people are able to see themselves in the stories and are more likely to find the strength to rise above their own situations and heal from their own experiences with abuse.
An opening reception will be held on First Friday, October 4th, 5:30-7:30 pm. Beverages from Hop Valley Brewing and wine from Sundance Wine Cellars. Live music.
