When: 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19

Where: Soreng Theater, Hult Center for the Performing Arts, One Eugene Center (7th and Willamette), Eugene

Details: Composer and pianist Martin Palmeri joins us from Buenos Aires for a performance of his Misa a Buenos Aires (Misatango), an excitingly dynamic traditional Latin Mass infused with the musical style of the Argentine tango. Stunningly beautiful Puerto Rican soprano soloist Camille Ortiz and virtuoso bandoneon player Giovanni Parra from Bogota, Columbia bring the richness and passion of Latin America to our stage. In the second half of the program, we will explore the dance, from the origins and culture of Argentine Tango, demonstrated by Marisela Rizik and dancers from Eugene Tango Milonga, to International and American styles with spectacular professional dancers Hanna Lytvynovych and Anton Ivanyshyn from Vault Dance Studio. Inspired many years ago by the tango scene in the film Scent of a Woman, Diane Retallack will live out her dream of dancing the tango with her professional teacher/dancer Yegor Novikov. Thank you to our concert sponsor: Vault Dance Studio.

Tickets: $21-$38 adults, $10 (students with college ID, and youth high school and younger)
