Details: Clayton Stephenson, “a remarkable virtuoso and master storyteller” (Gramophone) takes the Fifth Piano Concerto of Beethoven, a piece both heroic and tragic. Framing the program are Hannah Kendall’s The Spark Catchers –inspired by a poem of the same name about women match makers in the 1880s — and Brahms’ rich, autumnal, noble, and heart-wrenching Fourth Symphony.
