Details: Celebrate Eugene’s vibrant art scene during the First Friday ArtWalk, including a Lunar New Year celebration in partnership with Asian American Council of Oregon. Start in the Farmers Market Pavilion (85 E 8th Ave), where you can pick up your ArtWalk Guide, shop the Artist Marketplace, and explore specialty exhibitions by Asian artists before exploring the many galleries and arts venues of downtown Eugene.

Celebrate Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake with Asian American Council of Oregon! Discover an array of Asian pottery techniques at a pop-up exhibit, along with Chinese lion dancing, Taiko drumming, origami, and martial arts demonstrations. The Artist Marketplace will also highlight Asian artists specializing in painting, photography, calligraphy, textiles, print, ceramics, and bonsai.

The Asian American Council of Oregon (AACO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the cultivation and promotion of Asian and Asian American heritage through cultural and social activities. AACO board members Helen Liu and Carrie Matsushita share, “This partnership is exciting because we can welcome the Year of the Snake and showcase ancient Asian art techniques that are transformed by local artists into contemporary works that pay homage to traditional art forms. Get ready for an exciting event!”

This project has been funded in part by grants from Travel Oregon and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Cost: The monthly First Friday ArtWalk is presented by Lane Arts Council and is always free.
