Details: Vanquish your writing woes at this 6-session critique circle led by Daryll Lynne Evans. Getting your work onto the page is hard enough. But how do you know if it’s any good?
Getting and giving feedback is a vital part of the writing process. Not only can it directly improve your work, but you learn the craft of writing by the close reading and discussion of your group mates’ writing, too.
But finding a critique group can be challenging. How do you know if you’ll mesh with the other writers there? What if they’re mean to you and tear your writing apart?
At Bring Your Pages, writer (and Wordcrafter) Daryll Lynne Evans will guide you through how to give constructive, helpful, compassionate critique, centering the writer’s voice and intention throughout. You’ll not only receive useful feedback on your own writing, you’ll learn how to give good feedback to others, and how a health critique group operates.
No matter where you are in your writing journey, if you’ve had experience with critique groups and workshopping your words or not, you’ll find community and camaraderie at Bring Your Pages.
Bring Your Pages Critique Circle will use an adaptation of Liz Lerman’s creative process and is informed by Craft in the Real World: Rethinking Fiction Writing and Workshopping by Matthew Salesses and The Anti-Racist Writing Workshop: How to Decolonize the Creative Classroom by Felicia Rose Chavez.
If you’re feeling unmoored and out to sea with your writing, or stuck in a rut and unsure how to get out of it, know you’re not alone and struggle is NOT a sign of a lack of talent. It’s just a sign that you need to try something different and call in some outside reinforcements.
Bring Your Pages isn’t just a solution to your writing struggles. It’s a way to form new connections and friendships with other writers. The enemy of creativity is often isolation.
