The play
If you want to be part of something rotten (the play that Cottage Theatre will do in October, you will need to audition on July 27 or 28.
Something Rotten, to be directed at Cottage Theatre by Janet Rust, takes place in the time of William Shakespeare, when two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom, are trying to write a hit play that can equal one of Shakespeare’s, although they find that it’s pretty hard to match, much less do better than, one of the Bard’s productions.
But when a local fortuneteller tells the guys that the way to succeed is to come up with a play that involves triple-threat performing — singing, dancing, and acting — she sets the Bottom brothers on course to create the world’s first musical theater production.
