Here’s the news from Chamber Music Amici …
Loi Heldt, founding executive director of Chamber Music Amici, will retire in August of 2024.
During her 16 years with the group, Heldt has helped shape the ensemble as the first resident company of the Wildish Community Theater. Other tasks have included collaborating with the five core musicians of Chamber Music Amici, as well as a wide array of musical guests. Her management of day-to-day operations has helped establish Chamber Music Amici as one of the most successful chamber music ensembles in the Eugene-Springfield community. Her leadership, generosity and approachability will be greatly missed.
Interim executive director Troy DeShazer has been selected to assume management responsibilities for Chamber Music Amici. He has a breadth of experience in nonprofit operations and arts leadership and brings an additional fresh perspective, having served the as director of operations with the Eugene Concert Choir for four years. He also is a professional musician — tuba is his instrument — as well as a music educator with an advanced degree in performance from University of Redlands in California.
