Registration is open now for the 2025 Emerald Print Exchange. This will be the  exchange’s eighth year of bringing together print artists from around the world.

Here’s how it works: Up to 200 participating artists each submit an edition of twelve 5×7-inch prints. Two of the prints are used for exhibition and fundraising for Whiteaker Printmakers (now part of the Maude Kerns Art Center) and its partner in the annual print exchange, Print Arts Northwest.

The other 10 copies from each artist go into a pool, and each participating artist receives back 10 prints — chosen at random — that were submitted by other artists in the exchange.

The exchange itself is conducted as a “reverse auction” in which a top starting price is set, and every day that a print does not sell, its price goes down by a few dollars, to a final sale price of $20 on the last day of the auction. That means that buyers have to decide whether to pay a top price for a favorite print or take a chance that someone else may snatch it up first.
