Maude Kerns Art Center Named 2023 Artist Choice Grant Recipient by the Ruth Foundation for the Arts
The Maude Kerns Art Center is very pleased to announce that it has received a Ruth Foundation for the Arts 2023 Artist Choice grant in the amount of $20,000. Maude Kerns is one of only two arts organizations in Oregon to be honored with this Artist Choice grant. This year’s recipients include 41 cities in 26 states.
Artist Choice grants are awarded through an artist-driven nomination process. This year, nominating artists acknowledged both artist-run spaces and the longstanding organizations that have shaped their practice.
The Ruth Foundation for the Arts (Ruth Arts) is named named for lifetime supporter of the arts Ruth DeYoung Kohler (1941 -2020). It is a new, national granting organization based in the Midwest. Ruth Arts is “dedicated to meeting the evolving needs and lived experiences of artists, communities, and arts organizations whose work is anchored by visual arts, performing arts, and arts education.”
The Maude Kerns Art Center, located at 1910 E. 15th Avenue at the corner of 15th and Villard streets, is Eugene’s first non-profit community center for the visual arts. Gallery hours are from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday, and noon to 4:00 pm on Saturday when exhibits are on display.
