“Music and the Film Industry” is the title of a talk that will be given during the Lane Arts Council’s First Friday ArtWalk in downtown Eugene, at 6 p.m. in The Studio on the lower level of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts.
The speaker will be Emmy-nominated composer Philip Giffin, who will talk about his career composing music for many television and movie productions.
Giffin has many compositions to his credit, including the music for Die Hard I and II, Lethal Weapon I and II, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Fatal Instinct, Sommersby, Soul Plane, Muppets Tonight, Darkwing Duck and The Simpsons. Most recently, he composed the scores for Amityville: The Awakening, Polaroid, and Children of the Corn: Runaway.
Besides composing, Giffin also produces albums, working with a wide variety of artists, including RZA, Martin Short, Billy Crystal, Michelle Pfeiffer, Val Kilmer, Tim Robbins, The Muppets, and Cirque du Soleil director Stefan Haves.
