For the 30th time, the Maude Kerns Art Center is gearing up for its annual Jello Art Show, which means, of course, that every piece of artwork will be made from the stuff usually associated with preschooler’s snacks and potlucks in Midwest church basements.

All those who hanker to enter the one-day show must show up at the art center between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, to drop off their masterpieces, along with a $3 fee for each entry.

The show opens to the public at 5 p.m. and goes to 8 p.m., with a performance by The Radar Angels about 7 p.m.

The Slug Queen and the Jello Queen also will be on hand.

Those who don’t enter items in the exhibit can still participate in another way, by bringing their favorite jello snacks to share at the Tacky Food Buffet during the event.

The theme for this year’s jello art exhibit is “Jello Goes Gold,” proof, as if it were needed, of the adage that “all that glitters is not gold.”

All the jello art must be taken away by its creators immediately after the show.
