The city of Eugene has a Slug Queen, and the Maude Kerns Art Center has a Jello Queen, also known as Gelatinaceae, or sometimes Diane McWhorter.

Whatever you want to call this colorful royal, she will be teaching an interactive, online Queen’s Jello Art Workshop via Zoom from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 12.

Looks good enough to eat — a plate of Jello orange slices entered in an earlier Jello Art Show

That will give her students plenty of time to try out her time-honored techniques and hone their skills to make entries for Jello Mojo, this year’s Jello Art Show that takes place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 at the Maude Kerns Art Center.

(A further benefit of taking this online class will be the chance to view Jello Queen Gelatinaceae’s extensive personal collection of dried Jello art.)

The class will be presented via Zoom, and it will teach how to make many wonderful shapes — animals, flowers, creatures, and any other whimsical items the imagination can conjure — and turn them into fabulous works of Jello art.
