Announcement from the Maude Kerns Art Center:
The Maude Kerns Art Center will resume its Movies at Maude’s series at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, at the center at 1910 E. 15th Ave., at the corner of 15th and Villard streets.
The selection for Aug. 21 will be The Cool School: How L.A. Learned to Love Modern Art. It’s a 2008 documentary about the beginnings of the contemporary art scene on Los Angeles, focusing on the Ferus Gallery and its founders, Ed Kienholz and Walter Hopps, and the renegade artists who helped them build the vibrant art scene. Some of the artistts that are profiled in the movie are Ed Ruscha, Craig Kauffman, Wallace Berman, Ed Moses, and Robert Irwin.
Morgan Neville directed the film, with narration by Jeff Bridges.
The showing will be done at the center according to all State of Oregon and Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Please make reservations to attend by going online to mkartcenter.org.
Movies are free, but donations are much appreciated.
Regular gallery hours during art shows are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
